The hidden chill spots in Washington Heights are quite a New York explorers’ delight. Walking through the neighborhood seeing icy charts, Mexican food trucks, street vendors selling a variety of products, and local residents tending to their weekend leisure is the true definition of community.
Sieto Tacos is an intimate cozy Mexican restaurant slightly hidden along Sherman Avenue. The lively festive pink walls gives a warm inviting vibe while photographs and framed printed Mexican historical artwork hangs as art and educational visuals. My favorite visuals were scattered printed images of posters marching through the streets conveying outrage over the 2014 abduction of 43 Mexican college students which supporters believed their corrupt government played a major role in the cover up.
The great aspect about Sieto Tacos is you can have a full meal or just pop in for happy hour, appetizers, and relax smoking from a hookah. The bar section is small as well as the restaurant therefore not the best spot to accommodate large reservation during high peak hours. Get for parties of two and fours. Sieto Tacos is located on 101 Sherman Ave, New York, NY 10034, between Academy St & Dyckman St, Washington Heights, (646) 964-4743.
