“Taste West Harlem : A Restaurant Stroll” hosted by New York Women’s Chamber of Commerce (NYWCC) with the supported by New York City Council Member Mark Levine of District 7, Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer, and participating local businesses. This event showcased several of West Harlem’s restaurants, bakers and beverage companies. The Grand Slam Banquet Hall, located on 145th Street on Broadway, interior design and breathtaking chandeliers created the elegant feel of this night with the DJ playing old and new school beats. Ticket prices were only $20 for non-members and free for NYWCC members.
This event falls in line with “Explore West Harlem” campaign which focuses on encouraging visitors to explore Hamilton Heights, Manhattanville, and Morningside Heights arts, eateries, parks, historical history, and other local attractions.
The purpose of the “Taste West Harlem: A Restaurant Stroll” food and beverage sampling event is to bring attention to the local businesses on the Westside of Harlem. West Harlem has a strip of diverse bars, cigar room, restaurants and many other local attractions but with limited press media resources. West Harlem adjunct neighbor is District 10 Central Harlem which has an abundance of notoriety due to the historical history and tourism to such attractions like Sylvia’s, The Schomburg Research Center, Adam Clayton Powell Building, The Apollo Theater, The Shine, and The Magic Johnson Movie Theater. Even newer businesses like the resurrection of the legendary restaurant Red Rooster has benefited greatly from being located in Central Harlem.
Brooklyn Soul Clap had a great experience meeting the local diverse business owners and mix and mingling with guests. The entire event was very informative and festive with delicious cocktails, and yummy bites. The positive highlights for the Brooklyn Soul Clap team, which was based on taste, and merchants’ continuous hospitality towards us and guests during the entire “Taste West Harlem : A Restaurant Stroll” event, goes as follows in no particular order.
